The Crazy Horse Electric Game

Description

Willie Weaver used to be a hero. Now he's nothing. Willie is a top athlete, the star of the legendary game against Crazy Horse Electric. In small-town Montana, pitching for Samson Floral, he was untouchable on the mound, capping an undefeated season with an impossible catch. Then a freak accident robs him of his once-amazing physical talents. A devastating blow from a water ski leaves him dragging his left side and fighting for every slurred word. Betrayed by his family, his girlfriend, and his own body, Willie's on the run, penniless and terrified on the streets, where he must fight to rebuild both his body and his life. Stranded alone in Oakland, he finds shelter at an alternative inner-city school called OMLC, where an unexpected circle of allies refuses to let him quit. Against the Odds: A traumatic water-skiing wipeout on Salmon Lake shatters Willie's coordination, leaving him with an uncertain path forward. Runaway Journey: Fleeing his unraveling small-town life in Montana, Willie arrives alone at an Oakland bus depot and navigates dangerous inner-city streets. Found Family: Enrolling at the alternative One More Last Chance High School, Willie discovers unconventional mentors who challenge him to rediscover his balance and reclaim his future.
